Durante muito tempo, a Torre de Londres foi um local de execução e suplício. Inúmeras pessoas permaneceram aí em cativeiro, sendo torturadas e decapitadas, desde marginais desprezíveis a nobres de sangue azul, os quais podiam ameaçar o poder do rei. Por causa desse passado, a Torre de Londres adquiriu a fama de ser uma fortaleza mal-assombrada e não são poucas as histórias que se contam sobre fantasmas dos prisioneiros mortos, a vagar pelos corredores arrastando pesadas correntes...

Bill, o tradutor

Como já disse numa postagem anterior, o livro “666 – Caçadores de Demônios” está sendo traduzido para o inglês. Hoje, quero falar um pouco de meu tradutor que, além de excelente pessoa e muito conceituado no mundo editorial, é um poeta inspirado, original e bastante criativo.

William Lagos (Luis Humberto William Lagos Teixeira Guedes, ou Bill, como gosta de ser chamado) é natural de Bagé, onde trabalha como tradutor desde 1987, tendo vertido obras de autores como Conan Doyle, C. S. Lewis, J.R.R. Tolkien, Honoré de Balzac, Victor Hugo, Truman Capote, Mark Twain, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Edgar Allan Poe, Lewis Carroll, entre muitos outros. Tem vasta experiência no ramo da tradução e já trabalhou com algumas das melhores editoras do Brasil, tais como Rocco, Martins Fontes, Nova Fronteira, Geração, Aleph, Sextante, Ediouro e L&PM. William Lagos já traduziu 288 livros até hoje (289, se contarmos o “666 – Caçadores de Demônios”), perfazendo uma média superior a 10 livros por ano.
